What Size Guitar do I need for my Child?
Age can be used for a general
guideline:
- If your child is normal height for his or her age chose the recommended instrument size below.
- If your child is small for his or her age or above average in height, you may want to consider moving to a different age group.
What size Acoustic or Classical guitar do I need?
- 3 to 6 years old - 1/2 Size
30" - 32" Acoustic or Classical Guitar
- 5 to 8 years old - 3/4 Size 33" - 36” Acoustic or Classical Guitar
- 8 to 11 years old - Student
36” - 38" Acoustic or Classical Guitar
- 11 Years to Adult - Classical
Guitar or 38" - 39" Acoustic Guitar
- 12 years to Adult - Full Size
Acoustic Guitar
Classical Guitars have Nylon Strings and Acoustic Guitars have Steel Strings. Nylon Strings are easier to press down and are easier on the fingers.
What size Electric or Bass Guitar do I need?
- 6 to 9 or 10 years old - 3/4 Size Electric Guitar
- 8 or 9 to 12 years old - 7/8 Size Electric Bass Guitar
- 9 or 10 Years to Adult - Full Size Electric Guitar
- 13 years to Adult - Full Size Electric Bass Guitar
